USAID donates $1,8 million for Salvadoran agriculture

The agreement to extend by another year, until June of the 2006, the project Center of Investment, Development and Export of Agribusiness (IDEA) was signed Friday, February 11 by USAID Director Mark Silverman and FINTRAC President Claire Starkey.

The agreement to extend by another year, until June of the 2006, the project Center of Investment, Development and Export of Agribusiness (IDEA) was signed Friday, February 11 by USAID Director Mark Silverman and FINTRAC President Claire Starkey. Salvadoran Minister of Agriculture Mario Salaverría witnessed the signing.

The value of the project was increased by $1,8 million with which IDEA will reach a total value of $7,3 million.

The original intention of the project was to reactivate the zones that were affected by the 2001 earthquakes and soon it was extended at national level. The project began in April of 2002 and it focuses in the production, commercialization and processing of fruits and vegetables.
