USDA makes $2.4 million milk donation

U.S. Ambassador H. Douglas Barclay presided over the donation
of 1.780 metric tons of nonfat powder milk to the Archbishop
of San Salvador.
Thanks to this USDA donation worth $2.4
million, more than 7.500 children, young people and elderly
in day-care centers, homes, public shelters and drug recovery
centers will have access to milk-based food that will improve
their nutrition.
CARITAS and Catholic Relief Services will
execute the program over three years. Each beneficiary
will receive a daily ration of milk, diluted or in dishes
like
tapioca, puddings and refreshments.
