Closing ceremony for Joint US-Salvadoran military exercise

US Ambassador to El Salvador H. Douglas Barclay and Salvadoran
Defense Minister General Otto Romero Orellana participated
in the closing ceremony for the joint military humanitarian
exercise New Horizons 2005 Joint Taskforce for Children.
The closing ceremony took place in the School Canton La
Esperanza in Tecoluca, San Vicente. New Horizons began in
February this year. During this exercise two schools were
built, one in Las Flores and the other one in Tecoluca. Three
health clinics were built in the municipalities of Tepetitán,
Santa Clara, and San Ildefonso in San Vicente
41,344 medical consultations and treatments were provided
in the Medical Training exercises in nine municipalities
in San Vicente. At least 3,200 veterinary treatments were
also given.
The total cost of this joint exercise was $5 million.
