June 17,
2005
*****

American classical guitarrist Rico Stover visited San
Salvador in mid-June with support from the Public Affairs
Office of the U.S. Embassy. Stover is a former Fulbright
scholar and an expert on Latin American music, particularly
that of the Paraguayan master Agustín Barrios Mangoré.
He wowed audiences at a standing-room only concert at the
National Anthropology Museum as well as at smaller concerts
at a private club and at the Residence of U.S. Ambassador
to El Salvador, H. Douglas Barclay. (Photo shows Ambassador
and Mrs. Barclay with the guitarrist.) Stover also gave
a series of guitar master classes at the National Arts
Center and multiple radio, TV and newspaper interviews.
