Central Bank and Embassy Unveil New Ten-Dollar Bill in El Salvador
September 29, 2005

*****

Embassy Economic Officer David Krzywda and Salvadoran Central Bank Treasurer Juan Alberto Hernandez described the features of the new 10-dollar bill that make the new bills safer, smarter, and more secure.

They emphasized the importance of learning at least three of the new features and of taking the time to use the new features to verify the authenticity of the bills. They also noted that even after the new $10 bills are issued for circulation sometime in early 2006, the older bills would still be legal currency. In the United States Treasury Secretary Snow and U.S. Treasurer Ana Cabral unveiled the redesigned U.S. ten-dollar bill at an event on Ellis Island in New York Harbor.
