US Government donates $50,000 for emergency relief

The Government of the United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and its Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), has begun efforts to assist El Salvador in repairing the damages caused by the heavy rains and flooding that have affected the country and its people.
Due to the emergency, the U.S. Embassy has made $50,000 available to El Salvador. The money comes from the Interntional Disaster and Famine Assistance Fund; it will be distributed through NGOs and will help supply need the immediate needs of those affected by the state of emergency.
In addition, USAID will provide to the National Emergency Committee (COEN) 50 boxes of reinforced plastic sheeting that can be used for the construction of temporary shelters for approximately 1.500 people.
