The Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program 149 conducted training designed to help the hospitals and health centers of Suchitoto, La Paz, La Libertad and Cojutepeque to create emergency plans and risk-assessment maps so that they are better prepared for emergencies like the 2001 earthquakes.
The closing ceremony for the training program took place on Thursday March 2nd.
Thanks to funding from the U.S. Armed Forces Southern Command (the U.S. military office that oversees U.S. military assistance in the Western Hemisphere) 360 persons and 86 first-response brigades have been trained and 67 hospitals and health centers have new emergency plans.
