Amb. Barclay visits MEDRETEs and New Horizons Base Camp

On Wednesday, March 8 th , Ambassador H. Douglas Barclay and his wife Dee Dee visited two Medical Readiness Training Execises (MEDRETES) which are providing medical attention to people in Morazán and La Paz provinces.
The first MEDRETE was located in Joateca, a small town a mile away from Honduran border, where 32 members of the Delaware Army National Guard Medical Detachment, based in the local school, spent two days providing health services to 700 people. The second took place at a school in El Achiotal, San Pedro Masahuat, where Air Force personnel provided health services to a thousand people a day.
The Air Force unit will also conduct MEDRETES at two other locations in La Paz. Ambassador Barclay also visited the New Horizons 2006 base camp, where the Joint Task Force Morazán will inaugurate its operations on March 16. The Task Force will build schools, clinics, and community centers as well as dig water wells and carry out MEDRETEs in many villages in Morazán.
