New Horizons 2006 Officially Begins

U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador H. Douglas Barclay, Salvadoran President Elias Antonio Saca,Salvadora Minister of Foreign Affairs Francisco Laínez, and Salvadoran Defense Minister General Otto Romero Orellana participated in the opening ceremony for the joint military humanitarian exercise New Horizons 2006 Joint Task Force Morazan.

The ceremony took place at the public school in Canton San Jose, San Francisco Gotera, Morazan. From March through June this year, the New Horizons teams of U.S. and Salvadoran soldiers and reservists will build three schools and two community centers and dig three wells.

Salvadoran and American military doctors will also provide medical care during three Medical Readiness Training exercises (MEDRETEs) in several municipalities in Morazan.
