Ambassador gives grant to preserve indigenous images

On September 28th, during a touching event that included an indigenous blessing ceremony, Ambassador H. Douglas Barclay presented the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation Grant to the organization IZALCUTUR.

This is the fifth time that El Salvador has won the AFCP. This year’s grant will support the inventory, restoration and preservation of religious wooden polychromed imagery, carved during the 16th through the 19th centuries and maintained by the indigenous people of Izalco.
