Half a million dollars worth of books for Salvadorans

On December 15, 2006 Ambassador H. Douglas Barclay delivered to the “Dr. Francisco Gavidia” National Library and the Salvadoran public library system a donation consisting of more than 37,000 books valued at half a million dollars.

This donation is a joint effort between the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy and the International Book Bank (IBB).

The books majority of the books are in Spanish but there is also a substantial quantity of English books which will help Salvadorans learning English as a second language.
