El Salvador acknowledges US cooperation to achieve peace

In the occasion of the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the January 16, 1992 signing of the Peace Accords of Chapultepec, Salvadoran President Elias Antonio Saca presented commemorative plaques to several countries whose support helped end the bitter civil war that lasted 12 years.
Ambassador H. Douglas Barclay received the plaque recognizing and thanking the United States. Also on January 16, U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesman Tom Casey issued a statement congratulating El Salvador on fifteen years of peace.
