CAPSTONE -- High ranking US military officers visit El Salvador

A 14-member delegation of newly promoted or soon to be promoted flag officers from the CAPSTONE military course conducted by the National Defense University visited El Salvador on a familiarization tour August 12th to 14th.

During their three-day visit, the officers met with representatives of the Salvadoran Ministry of Defense, members of the Defense Ministry of the Legislative Assembly and Defense Attachés of the diplomatic corps.  Ambassador Charles L. Glazer also hosted a reception in their honor at his residence with senior members of the Salvadoran armed forces.  This is the third year in a row that CAPSTONE delegations have visited El Salvador.

CAPSTONE is a joint service professional military education courses for newly promoted brigadier generals and rear admirals serving in the United States military. The National Defense University conducts the CAPSTONE course at Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, DC.  The course objective is to ensure senior military leaders understand how military forces and other elements of national power are integrated and used to support national military strategies, and how joint, interagency, and multinational operations support strategic national objectives.
